reinstall_directoutput

DirectOutput Service reinstall

Attention: The DirectOutput Service is no longer needed in SPAD.neXt Version 0.9.2.0 (or later)!
You can uninstall the DirectOutput Service.

  1. Shutdown your computer. (Important: Not hibernate or sleep mode. Completely shutdown)
  2. Disconnect ALL FIP and do not reconnect them
  3. Start computer
  4. Uninstall “Saitek DirectOutput (version number)” (From Control panel→Add remove programs (!!! important!!)
  5. Reboot Computer
  6. Go to C:\Program Files\Saitek
  7. Delete the folder Directoutput
  8. Reboot computer
  9. Check 6. make sure the folder Directoutput is gone
  10. Install Directoutput ( download fresh copy! ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/FIP/Pro_Flight_Instrument_Panel_7_0_47_1_x64_Drivers.exe) and follow the instruction exactly! Do NOT (!!!) replug the FIP into the computer before the installer asks you to do so!
  11. Reboot computer
  12. Check in Control Panel→Administration→Services that the service Saitek DirectOutput is up and running. (All FIP should show the default slideshow now)
  13. Select the Saitek DirectOutput Service , Right-Click → Properties, select “Recovery” Tab and change all options to “Restart service”.
  14. If you want SPAD.neXt to control the service (Start it when SPAD.neXt starts, and shut it down when SPAD.neXt exits) set the startup method to “manual” in the first tab. This however requires that you run SPAD.neXt as Administrator!. Leave it as “automatic” if SPAD.neXt shows a warning that it could not control the DirectOutput Services.
  15. Start SPAD.neXt

Saitek DirectOutput Services have a common known problem with hibernate/sleep mode! If you are using hibernate mode please shutdown the services before hibernating and restart them when coming back from sleep mode. It is strongly recommended to completely shutdown your Simulator computer instead of hibernating.

It's a known Problem that DirectOutput Service does not recognize all FIP Devices from time to time, in this case restarting the DirectOutput Service ( Control Panel→Administration→Services→Saitek DirectOutput) will help ( restart SPAD.neXt as well).
